Reviews :
Jerron Paxton is a writer, instrumentalist, storyteller and singer in the tradition of old-time pioneering bluesmen such as Blind Lemon Jefferson and Lonnie Johnson. Yet at the time he cut these six sides for the 2012 Direct-to-Disc Sessions at Blue Heaven Studios, he was a mere 23 years old. The quick-witted, broad-smiling Paxton has an unmistakable talent and supreme skill on the fiddle, banjo, piano and guitar. His vocals are clear and unforced, and now his early work is preserved beautifully on record.
Direct-to-disc (D2D) recording refers to sound recording methods that record audio directly onto analog disc masters bypassing steps as master tapes, overdubs, and mix downs from multi-tracked masters. This approach avoids problems of analog recording tape such as tape hiss (high frequency noise).
