Review:
In the 1960’s, Oistrakh’s recitals were already not that frequent. The musician was more focused on conducting and educating career. All that made a series of his joint performances with Sviatoslav Richter within 1967 to 1972 a significant event.
Outstanding musicians not always manage to create a genuine ensemble when they play together. Oistrakh and Richter, two of the greatest representatives of the Soviet music performing school, combined solo and ensemble performance throughout their careers finding a lot of common features in each other’s art. The listeners of those concerts were witnesses of truly unique co-creation of the two great individualities whose main purpose was Music.
