                  Reviews:

“When it comes to Lou Donaldson, nobody structures a solo more beautifully than he does, logically connecting everything. The result is one album after the next without any “dead spots.” I find myself continually blown away by his melodic sense, his world class chops, and his swing. Probably the closest comparison would be Cannonball Adderley, which is immense praise. Whenever they improvise, Lou and Cannonball hit the ground running and are so incredibly melodic that it’s hard to believe they’re improvising.

Lastly but not leastly…Ray Barretto! (Hey, doesn’t that seem like an album title”? …Ray Barretto! out now on Prestige. But I digress.) The conguero played on six (!) albums with Lou and I love the texture he brings. A steamin’ bop tune with a conga? Yes, please. Looking forward to some more.” Jazzopath, February 2021
